On 13 July 2022, CMIPD Executive Director Dr Ezekiel Olusegun Alawale led a team to UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital in Osogbo to identify areas for collaboration and professional support.
The discussions led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, formally establishing the relationship between CMIPD and the teaching hospital.
Addressing priority healthcare needs
CMIPD also completed a needs assessment across hospital departments. One of the identified priorities was access to Cervarix vaccines for women with negative screening results as a preventive measure against cervical cancer.
Financial constraints delayed the procurement of the vaccines, but CMIPD and the hospital remain committed to identifying funding opportunities. UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital is also a participating centre in the National Cervical Screening Project.
A platform for continued development
The partnership supports healthcare training, professional development, disease prevention and patient care. It also gives both organisations a formal basis for planning future interventions and measuring progress.
