CMIPD works with healthcare institutions and professionals to develop practice skills and support safer healthcare delivery. In 2022, the organisation visited tertiary health institutions in Oyo and Osun States to establish and renew collaborative relationships.
University College Hospital, Ibadan
On 20 April 2022, CMIPD visited UCH for a formal reintroduction and discussions about continued collaboration. The engagement was led by Dr Ezekiel Olusegun Alawale and included the Deputy Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, the Head of Legal Services and Hospital Services representatives.
Following additional meetings on a Memorandum of Understanding and departmental needs, the hospital confirmed its readiness to partner with CMIPD, with support from 20 departments.
UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo
On 13 July 2022, CMIPD met with hospital management to discuss areas of collaboration. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed and a needs assessment was conducted across departments.
The assessment highlighted the need for Cervarix vaccines for women with negative screening results. Funding constraints delayed procurement, while the hospital continued as a participating centre in CMIPD’s National Cervical Screening Project.
Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Ibadan
A collaborative visit to AMTH focused on potential areas of partnership. A letter of intent had been submitted to the Oyo State Ministry of Health, and hospital management agreed to prepare a needs assessment from each department.
AMTH is also participating in CMIPD’s National Cervical Screening Project.
Next steps
The visits established foundations for long-term collaboration. CMIPD plans to continue supporting the institutions through targeted training, resource provision and ongoing assessment aligned with safe professional practice.
