On July 13, 2022, the CMIPD Executive Director, Dr. E.A. Alawale, led a team to Uniosun Teaching Hospital (UTH), Osogbo, Osun State, to discuss potential areas of collaboration. During the visit, CMIPD engaged with the hospital management in a productive dialogue that led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), solidifying the partnership between CMIPD and UTH.
Addressing Key Healthcare Needs
In addition to formalizing the partnership, CMIPD conducted a needs assessment across various hospital departments to identify critical areas requiring intervention. One major finding was the need for Cervarix vaccines for negatively screened women as a preventive measure against cervical cancer. Although financial constraints have delayed the procurement of these vaccines, CMIPD and UTH remain committed to exploring funding opportunities to make this initiative a reality.
Meanwhile, UTH has been designated as one of the participating centers for the National Cervical Screening Project, reinforcing its commitment to preventive healthcare and early detection strategies.
A Step Forward in Healthcare Advancement
CMIPD’s partnership with UTH signifies another step towards enhancing healthcare training, professional development, and patient care in Nigeria. By fostering collaborations like this, CMIPD continues to champion initiatives that improve healthcare accessibility, service delivery, and disease prevention.
