The Center for Medical Informatics and Professional Development (CMIPD) is committed to bridging the gap in effective and efficient healthcare delivery between developed and developing nations. Through strategic collaborations with healthcare institutions and professionals, CMIPD designs and delivers practice skills improvement programs that align with global standards. As part of this mission, CMIPD embarked on several institutional visits in July 2022 to establish and strengthen partnerships in the healthcare sector.
On April 20, 2022, CMIPD visited the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, for a formal re-introduction and to explore potential avenues for sustained collaboration. The visit was led by CMIPD Executive Director, Dr. E.A. Alawale, and included discussions with key stakeholders such as the Deputy Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, the Head of Legal Services, and members of the Hospital Services unit.
Key Discussions and Outcomes
During the visit, CMIPD engaged in comprehensive discussions focused on establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster a structured and long-term partnership with UCH. A thorough needs assessment was also conducted to identify areas where CMIPD’s expertise and training programs could provide maximum impact.
Following a series of follow-up meetings and deliberations, the management of UCH confirmed their readiness to collaborate. This landmark agreement secured the buy-in of 20 departments within the facility, signifying widespread institutional support for CMIPD’s initiatives.
Strengthening Healthcare Through Collaboration
CMIPD’s partnership with UCH marks a significant step in enhancing healthcare training, professional development, and service delivery within Nigeria. By aligning with global best practices and leveraging collaborative expertise, CMIPD continues to drive positive change in the medical landscape, ensuring that healthcare professionals are well-equipped to meet evolving challenges.
